What you desire
A couple in Kerala, Grandma and
grandpa
Their parental duties done, have but
one desire
They run a lucrative business
Free cash flow is what it dishes
Spun from
tea, coffee and wada
Idli and parampuri
from their chai kadda
No degree from Harvard
They understand margin and
hard work
From dawn to dusk and some
At full steam their kitchens hummm
Their overheads are a thatched roof
With a light bulb or two but no fuse
They figured a lantern is just as
fine
They worked things out on a dime
The margins they generate
On each cup and plate
Wings them around the world come the
date
For that is their desire
What little baggage they need they
hire
Euros or dollars on food they barely
spend
For they have learnt to live on
little to meet their ends
They live on platforms, trains
and buses
When their eyes are open, they take
in the stretches
As the scenes go by
Their weathered and
gnarled fingers lie
Wrapped in each other’s barely shy
They have one other desire
Their last destination may continue
to inspire
They have achieved their life's
purpose
That hand-in-hand in heaven they may again
surface
