The Magnetic Pull of the Word
Our search for God takes many forms
Some retire to the Himalayas
Others to their dorms
Some prefer to hear the Word preached
Others double down and just read
The lenses we wear bears on what we
hear
For the Word of God living and active
Can discern the intentions of our
heart
For some the Word of God is a salve
to their wound
To others Vitamin for the mind
And to yet to many a tonic to cleanse
the soul
Some dwell on the Word to know when
the world will end
Others read to know how to live
worthily until then
Some that they may preach the Word
Others that they may bring succor to
the hurt
Some to claim protection
As they go about sharing the word,
counseling, deliverance and in intercession
Some read as a form of study
Others to unravel what lies buried in
the book so wordy
Some to reflect and internalize
what's said
Others to find insights to write to
be read
Some soak their senses with every
word they consume
Allowing it to seed, germinate and
to bloom
Some to get mystical powers
To do good or to invite favors
Some to reflect on the next course of
action
That they may walk in His Will and
get traction
Some read in fits and starts
They think they know but cannot grasp
Whatever the lens and the motivation
May it flourish in its many
dimensions
For the Word does not do any
harm
It bolsters us calming the storms
For the world we live in has much
stress
Our only hope is in the Word with which
to redress
To receive salvation, paid for, and
made free
When we reach the end of our tether
We can say bid me God that I may come
hither.
