The number of advertisers using mobile advertising has doubled in just two years and accordingly mCommerce is growing right along with it. Marketers need to grow along with it.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, not that there’s anything wrong with that – in fact I know of least two guys who do, at least in the Geico commercial anyway – you are fully aware of the remarkable rise and growth of the popularity of mobile phones, especially smartphones as nearly 1/3 of all Americans now own a smartphone, up from 20% just a year ago.
And as the number of smartphone users – the ones who are far more likely to see web or in app ads (27.5 percent vs. 5.0 percent) – goes up, and continues to go up in my oh-so-humble opinion, so too will the number of opportunities marketers and advertisers have to place a strategically and demographically-driven ad on their collective screens.
So it should have come as no surprise that on Tuesday, June 7,comScore, the self-proclaimed “global leader in measuring the digital world and the preferred source of digital marketing intelligence” – issued the finding of its recent study via press release, which revealed a 128% growth in the number of mobile display advertising campaigns.
This release was naturally picked up by media outlets, bloggers and other do-gooders from sea to shining sea… as it should have been.
This is big news…
And hey the more mobile ads you run, the more sales you’ll have, right?
Online auction giant eBay now estimates it will have $4 billion just from mobile sales alone, by the end of 2011. And according to the “Global Mobile and M-Commerce Trends 2011” report revenue from M-Commerce will increase tenfold from 2010 to 2014 in the USA.

Maybe the title of this post should have been… Marketers: Either You’re Mobile Or Your Immobile, Literally… point being marketers better be aware of the mobile advertising revolution; they better be active and yes, mobile cause if they’re not, well… you’ll be immobile and motionless real soon.
So giddy up, marketers.
Are you using mobile advertising?
If not, do you plan to in the next 6-12 months?
